OSF Pink Ball: An Island Oasis

In collaboration with co-chairs Dr. David & Anne Cable, and Dr. Stephen & Laura Minore, Event Floral was tasked with executing the design and production for the annual OSF Pink Ball.

For the 63rd annual event, Event Floral worked closely with the chairs to create an awe-inspiring look that would transport guests from the cold of winter to the serene ocean sights, sounds and smells of the Hawaiian Islands. A soft palette of neutral whites, ivories, tans and champagnes was accented with warm candlelight and pops of blush pink protea.

Event Floral designed and installed all of the décor, from full-room draping, dramatic backdrops, and exotic fresh floral centerpieces and arrangements to elegant table linen, custom chair treatments and stately bar facades and accent décor.

Once again, we had the privilege of partnering with Al Castrogiovanni and the Giovanni’s staff, Brent Hayes and the crew at SVL Productions, and OSF Saint Anthony Foundation Director Rick Zumwalt and team to create a truly unforgettable evening.

Below is a sampling of photos that show the detailed vision and the exquisite décor that is only fitting of the Pink Ball.

The entire room was draped in floor to ceiling drape, with specialty backdrops and doorway treatments accenting the room.

The design featured three styles of centerpieces. One style was a hanging centerpiece made of drift wood and ghost wood branches, dripping with white orchids and glass globes. Other styles accented this focal look with similar flowers and candles.

62nd Annual OSF Pink Ball

January 30, 2015
Giovanni’s Restaurant and Convention Center

2016 started off strong with the design and production of the 62nd Annual Pink Ball. Due to the wonderful collaboration between Event Floral, event co-chairs Allison Alexander and Theresa Harezlak, and the OSF Pink Ball committee, the event was seamlessly executed from initial design conceptualization to final production.

Event Floral assisted in all areas of the décor including floral centerpieces and arrangements, coordinating table linens and chair back treatments, fresh floral ceiling installation, design for a newly-added lounge area, custom built bar facades and unique back-lit boxwood hedge backdrops. SVL Productions provided room up lighting, hanging cafe style lights, and stage backdrop and lighting.

The endless creativity of co-chairs Allison Alexander and Theresa Harezlak, the helpful guidance of OSF Saint Anthony Foundation Director Rick Zumwalt and his staff, and the dedication of Giovanni’s team members resulted in a truly unforgettable evening.

Allison and Theresa had envisioned a modern, French garden of greenery along with tailored accents and metallic touches to transform the ballroom into a fresh, vibrant escape from the January winter weather.

As we take you through this collection of photos, we hope you appreciate the outstanding scale of this event’s design and their exquisite attention to detail.

This example of one of the three table centerpiece looks demonstrates the desire for fresh, crisp white floral, ambient candle light, coordinating black and white striped tablecloths, runners and napkins, as well as incorporating fresh greenery throughout the room.

Another table centerpiece look included custom constructed trees of curly willow and lush greenery, with a base of overflowing flowers and greens. The trees were lit from inside, and votive candles were suspended in clear glass globes.

Each place setting had a corresponding solid or striped napkin tied in a bow tie, placed atop a metallic gold charger plate complementing the gold chair back covering.

For the first time in 2016, the ballroom had a special lounge area for party guests to enjoy throughout the evening. We designed the backlit hedging as the backdrop, constructed the black and white striped awning, and placed modern furniture pieces creating a relaxing yet upscale area.

IMG_8692Guests felt as if they stepped into a Hamptons retreat with carefully selected furnishings and props added to the lounge area.IMG_8694

IMG_8698Event Floral designed and constructed custom-made bar facades to disguise the typical portable banquet bar. They were perfect focal points to each corner of the ballroom.

We designed and created a trellis of hanging flowers and greenery over the dance floor. SVL Productions incorporated crystal chandeliers in the design. The co-chairs Allison and Theresa wanted guests to feel like they were dancing in a garden.

Coordinating displays were placed in the entrance lobby to introduce the theme and color scheme as guests arrived.

OSF Saint Anthony: Pink Ball 2014

January 25th, 2014
Held at Giovanni’s Restaurant, Rockford, IL

This year marked the 60th celebration of the OSF Saint Anthony Pink Ball, fittingly, the “Diamond Jubilee”. Event Floral was deeply honored to be involved with the flowers, linens, and decorations, led by the creative minds of 2014 Chairs Susie and Brent Bernardi and the executive talents of the OSF Saint Anthony Foundation headed by Rick Zumwalt.

With such a milestone event as a stage, Susie wanted this evening to shine and sparkle! Her vision was a dramatic return to “pink” to capture the Ball’s namesake and abundant floral with crystal accents for an opulent celebration. Susie’s ability to see the event on a grand scale yet envision specialty details led to a truly beautiful, cohesive result. We can’t wait for you to enjoy these photographs as we walk through the creative process and spectacular effect!

High pink and white centerpieces, rose linens, and pink uplighting.Pink Ball 2014

We’ll start with the initial decision to create all high, dramatic, lavish centerpieces. Aren’t these stunning!? Susie fell in love with the concept of flowering branches to embody a modern, yet natural and spring-like feel. The centerpieces were further highlighted by dual pinspots from above, adding light and focal points throughout the room. To celebrate the “Diamond Jubilee” we used an assortment of crystal centerpiece stands and glass vases as well as rhinestone studded mirrors as pedestals for these floral masterpieces.

Modern Pink and White Centerpiece

We knew we needed a setting just as lovely for the tabletop. To further enhance creamy pink and white centerpieces, we chose a rosy pink overlay atop an ivory linen. Silver chargers added a subtle, yet sophisticated metallic touch. Giovanni’s pewter banquet chairs coordinated so beautifully with the pink and ivory palette that we chose to embellish them with a soft rose sash and rhinestone buckle.

To top it all off, we wanted to create a delicate yet impactful ceiling display of draping which highlighted the chandeliers and softened the room. We crowned each chandelier with a trailing garland of greenery and flowers and used sheer draped fabric to add intimacy and elegance. The crown jewel of the ceiling was the focal piece above the dance floor. This chandelier Susie and Brent chose to have converted to rosy pink lighting and its alcove adorned with lush garland, hanging flowers and layered crystals.

The awesome team from SVL Productions also worked their magic with ambient rose pink lighting adding warmth and intrigue and with an eye-catching, fabulous uplit crystal chandelier backdrop behind the stage.

Crystal Chandelier Backdrop

With proceeds from this year’s event supporting cardiac care at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, the evening was all about matters of the “heart”. The design and production of the evening was absolutely a labor of love and commitment. Event Floral owner, Erin Stoffregen, could not have been more excited about the initial inspirations and more proud of the enchanting result. Event Floral whole-“heartedly” enjoyed the experience and appreciated the opportunity to work with such wonderful and positive committee members and all involved. What an amazing celebration of and tribute to the 60th Annual Pink Ball!

Next we coordinated with Photography by Kristen and Cake Creations on an inviting, inspiring set at the gorgeous Orchard Ridge Farms Pavilion for the non-traditional wedding show, Rockford Wed. Forget the typical vendor booth! Brides and their entourages got the opportunity to see and experience how local vendors can transform spaces and create the perfect looks for their weddings. We loved all the creativity and enjoyed the chance to provide flowers and decor for many of the vendors’ displays as well.
